How much caffeine is in an 8oz cup of coffee? Which has more, tea or coffee?
There are some common misconceptions surrounding the amount of caffeine in one coffee roast vs another. Some people think that the darker the roast, the higher the caffeine content. The thinking could be that the roast is darker, therefore the caffeine buzz will be higher. This is not altogether true. The truth is that there is very little difference between dark and light roasts in the stimulant department. The darker roast would have less caffeine as the beans have been roasted for more time. The lighter roast would retain the caffeine content because the roast time is less.
People also think that green tea has close to the amount of caffeine that coffee does. This is also not correct! Coffee has three times the caffeine than green tea. You’ll have to drink three cups of tea to equal the amount of caffeine that’s in coffee!
If you compare the amount of caffeine in coffee to black tea, they are about the same. One cup of black tea is about equal to one cup of coffee. The caffeine is there, but you may be sacrificing some of the taste as in some cases black tea can turn out to be a little on the bitter side.

Not to mention, soda poses an extra risk of stroke and has artificial ingredients that can be harmful such as aspartame and sucralose!
Coffee gives you the most bang for your buck as far as caffeine goes. There is a reason that your classic cup of joe has lasted through the decades and even centuries! It has become an American staple and is not going anywhere anytime soon.
